TV Station Manager - WNMU-TV (Marquette)

Northern Michigan University is seeking applications for a TV Station Manager. The position leads the day-to-day operations and continued development of WNMU-TV, providing strong leadership to a team of professional and student employees while advancing the station's programming, community engagement, fundraising, student learning and operational goals. Coordinates national programming, local productions, and daily station activities while ensuring regulatory compliance. Supports donor and underwriting development through integrated on-air and digital fundraising efforts. Works with engineering and programming staff to monitor technical performance, review audience data, and assist with coordinating community outreach. Supports student experiential learning and help develop regional partnerships that advance the station’s long-term sustainability.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. Five years of progressively responsible experience in television production, broadcast operations, public media, or a closely related field, preferably in a non-commercial environment. Two years' experience with unit management, leadership or supervision. Demonstrated experience planning and completing projects involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

Required knowledge/skills/abilities: Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and ability to identify opportunities and problems, develop solutions, and take action with limited supervision. Knowledge of and direct hands-on experience with broadcast television systems and video production equipment. Time management skills and the ability to work on concurrent projects. Strong written communication skills, the ability to write in script format, and the ability to speak in public on industry-related topics. Understanding of non-commercial fundraising. PC or Mac computer skills. Demonstrated ability to plan and execute projects through completion and meet external deadlines. Interpersonal skills. Ability to calm stressful situations.

The schedule is traditionally Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required. The targeted salary range is $62,000-$66,500.
